The last thing you want is to let the cost of Christmas send you into the dreaded January debt!

So, whether you want to just comfortably afford your own merry little Christmas or wish to splurge to make this Christmas extra special, these quick ways to earn extra cash will have you covered!

And if you want to Save more money this Christmas make sure to check out my 10 Smart Ways to Save Money this Christmas!

Surveys

Online Surveys are one of my favourite ways to make extra money for Christmas! In fact, this year I am paying for most of my Christmas presents with money I have earned from surveys. They are quick, easy and can fit in around everyday life.

You may think that they are quite low paid, but if you choose the right ones and just keep going, the cash soon adds up! As you can see from the second photo, I made £95 with just one survey app! That was over about a month so there is plenty of time for you to make extra money for Christmas.

ATTAPOLL

The Attapoll app is the simplest of all the survey apps available, so is perfect for beginners.

Earn money and vouchers with surveys on attapoll

As you can see from the image, once you have signed up you will see all the surveys available to you at that time, approximately how long they will take to complete and how much you will earn from them. Simply click on one and get started!

You will get screened out or disqualified from surveys from time to time which can get frustrating, but be sure to keep trying and you will soon start earning!

TIP: Always tell the truth in surveys as you may get caught out and disqualified, and you will not be helping the people conducting the research if you lie.

Attapoll allows you to redeem your earning through Paypal, Revolut, Charity donations or Gift cards such as Amazon, John Lewis, Argos and ASOS.

Sign Up to Attapoll here to get a starting Bonus of £0.40! Or enter my referral code amhta to redeem the Bonus.

QMEE

Qmee is a very similar app to Attapoll and is actually the first survey app I tried. It is also my favourite! This is because if you get screened out of a survey after a lot of work, they will sometimes pay you a small amount anyway to make up for the time you spent!

They also reward you by increasing the amount each survey is worth if you log into the app everyday and get to a certain length of “streak”.

make extra money for Christmas and earn gift cards with surveys on qmee

As well as surveys, you can also earn cashback from playing games and even find some great deals for popular shops!

In my first month of using Qmee I earned over £50!

I did multiple surveys per day and although it took up some time, I found that it really paid off! Although this side hustle may be one of the lower earners on this list, it is a great way to make a extra cash in time for the festive season.

You can also do a daily quiz question to win 3p for every correct answer. I know 3p per day is not ground-breaking, but I have actually made just under £5 now just from the daily quiz question!

You can cash out your earnings through Paypal, Charity donations or gift cards such as Asda, Costa, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Just Eat and Amazon; perfect for Christmas shopping and Christmas Dinner!

If you sign up here and you will get a bonus 50p when you cash out for the first time through Paypal or Gift card!

What are you waiting for? They have paid out over £45,000,000 to their users!

MSR

MSR or “Measure” is a newer discovery to me but is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

They have quick daily surveys and interesting data tasks that they reward you for completing. These can include screen recording your phone data or “retro” tasks like sharing your app usage data. These are all well paid and very quick to complete.

Recently I was also selected to do a product test where they send me a product and I get paid £10 for a simple review!

You can quickly accumulate MSR points which you can then convert into cash via Paypal or an impressive range of Gift cards. You do need to reach £10 worth of points to cash out vouchers, but in my experience it won’t take long to reach that target.

EUREKA, SURVEY SPIN & SURVEY POP

Finally, I have grouped the 3 newest survey apps together as they all seem to be from the same creator, with the same interface.

They are simple survey apps just like the others we have mentioned, but with these you can cash out once you reach £4. When you cash out you automatically get a quick 2 minute survey worth £1.20 so you can start making money again straight away!

I really love these apps as I have not been screened out of many surveys and when I have, I always get paid a little for my time.

There are once again many ways to cash out including PayPal, Amazon vouchers and many other retailer vouchers. They also have a daily poll worth 1p which you can do on each app so that is instantly 3p. It is not much but it really is money for nothing!

I have included my referral links and codes for each app below so you can unlock a short 80p survey on each.

I would totally recommend downloading all 3 as it triples the amount you can earn!

Selling Christmas Crafts

If you are particularly arty, you could turn your craft hobby into a profitable Christmas side hustle.

From painting to knitting, sculpting to Pyrography, there are so many arts and crafts that you could turn your hand to. And if you use your craft in the Christmas niche then you are sure to make a small fortune! Trust me! People go wild for Christmas Crafts!

If you already have a craft hobby, then you could consider selling your work online or at local markets.

Selling Christmas crafts such as homemade cards, baubles and gifts can be quite competitive, so see if you can make your product unique so that it stands out to your potential customers.

Etsy is an excellent platform to start selling all of your festive crafts on so if you would like to open your own online Christmas shop I would highly recommend using my Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Making Money on Etsy to get you started. I made sure to include all the steps I took to earn over £1800 in my 4th month on Etsy, so Don’t miss it!

Market Research

Market Research is a much loved side hustle that has been around for years! It is great if you want to earn a decent amount of money in time for Christmas without leaving your house.

You are essentially being paid for your opinion by companies who want their consumer’s input. There are 3 main types of Market Research:

  • 1 to 1– This is an online video call or face to face between you and the moderator of the task, discussing the topic you applied for.
  • Focus Groups– Like a 1 to 1 video call or in person meeting but where a group of you are discussing the topic, not just you.
  • Online Community– This is run on an app or website for a few days where you complete tasks and surveys in your own time. You will be given a certain number of tasks you need to complete each day.

As an introvert, my favourite type of market research is definitely the online community where live discussions are not required. But as many people feel the same, I have found these opportunities are harder to find and can pay less than focus groups or 1 to 1’s.

You can expect to be paid anything between £10 -£150 and sometimes even more depending on the task! Personally, I have found the average pay out for a 1 hour task is around £40-£70. A few of these could quite easily cover the majority of your Christmas spending.

All you have to do is find a site that offers market research, then read through the opportunities available at the moment. They will list what the subject is, what type of research it is, where it takes place (if it is in person), the estimated time to complete the task and how much money they are offering you.

You can apply by filling out a simple questionnaire. If your application is successful you should be contacted by the company to arrange when you can do the task. Beware, you will have to keep applying to different studies, as it is very competitive and you will not be chosen all of the time. But don’t give up hope, applying to multiple studies is all part of the process.

There are many places you can apply to market research so I would encourage you to do further research once you have finished here. Here are my top 3 sites to find market research opportunities to get you started.

Overall, market research is one of the most reliable and high earning ways to make extra money I have found. Once you start getting accepted to some studies, this will become one of the best ways to make money for Christmas.

Rent Out your Stuff

Why not use your possessions to make you a little extra money in time for Christmas? You could start by renting out the clothes in your wardrobe that you hardly wear.

Maybe you’re saving it for a special occasion or maybe you regret buying it in the first place?

Renting your clothes is a new brilliant solution to avoid buyer’s guilt and make the most out of your past purchases.

You simply list your items and like minded people can rent them out at a small fee per day. This is also a very eco-friendly idea which is helping to combat fast fashion culture.

You can upload your clothes on sites such as Rent my Wardrobe and Hurr and if you happen to have some designer items you could make even more on My Wardrobe HQ.

Alternatively, you could rent out some of your more miscellaneous items such as garden equipment and musical instruments. Many of us have random equipment that doesn’t get used very often. So why let it all collect dust when you could rent it out and earn from it?

Fatllama allows you to rent out “almost anything”. And they really mean almost anything!

From musical instruments to drones, sewing machines to wheelbarrows and even old phones!

You could be sitting on a small fortune!

I would highly recommend going on Fatllama and seeing if you have anything lying around that you can earn some passive income on.

Renting out your stuff is really one of the quickest ways you can make extra money for Christmas

Get Paid to Play Games

This is one of my favourite ways to make extra money for Christmas! As long as you are on the move every day, it is easy to rack up the cash!

With the app Skedadle you can earn money by playing games whilst you are travelling.

Skedadle is an ingenious app that was made to encourage people to use more public transport.

You can earn £2 per day by playing versions of classic games such as snake and 2048. The only catch is you will only get paid if you are moving. So you can earn money while you are on a train or bus, if you are a passenger in a car or even walking!

I love this little side hustle because I can easily get hooked into the game and before I know it I have made money!

Earn up to £60 every month just by playing games! If you start now that will go a long way towards your Christmas Budget!

Join me and Make Money on the Move! Sign up to Skedadle with my code GXJ40.

Free Money Offers

Free money offers are not going to make you rich in time for Christmas. But they are a great bonus and are quite literally FREE! So who wouldn’t take advantage of them in time for the festive season?

These are offers that simply give you some money when you sign up to something through a friend’s referral link. It sounds too good to be true, but really it is just a clever marketing technique that businesses use to encourage people to sign up to their platform. It is quick and will quite literally be the easiest money you have ever made!

  • Monzo– Get £5 when you make your first card payment within 30 days of signing up.
  • Cash App– Use Code 57SVJNP to get £5 when you send your first £5 to a friend (Don’t forget to get them to send it back!).
  • TopCashBack– Earn a £10 bonus when you earn your first £10 of cashback.

These offers change and expire rather quickly so make sure to take advantage of them now and keep your eyes peeled for more!

Earn Vouchers by Walking your Dog

The biscuit app is specifically for any fellow dog owners. So unfortunately if you don’t have a dog you are going to have to skip this one.

Biscuit is an app where you can get rewarded for taking care of your dog!

Simply sign up yourself and your dog and it will calculate the length of walk you should take every day and many other things. Activate the app at the start of your walk and you can earn 25 “biscuits” if you reach your daily target.

If you reach your weekly goal you will earn a bonus 50 biscuits!

You can also earn biscuits by completing wellbeing badges for registering your dog’s flea and worm treatments, vaccinations and even insurance.

make extra money for Christmas by walking your dog

With your biscuits, you can then earn many different gift cards such as Odeon, John Lewis and Zizzi. You may not be able to earn cash for Christmas, but with so many gift cards to choose from, they will go a long way to your Christmas shopping!

You can cash out 1000 biscuits to get a £10 Amazon gift card! That means if you reach your targets every day and week, you could earn an amazon gift card in just over 4 weeks! Not bad for doing what you would be doing daily anyway!

I absolutely LOVE this app and I feel like it has really motivated me to walk further even during the cold festive months! It has also been one of the most lucrative and is definitely the best passive app for earning free gift cards.

Selling and Reselling Items

This may sound like an obvious one, but when we are looking for ways to make money for Christmas, we often forget that we are surrounded by potential money! We all have so much stuff lying around that we don’t use or want anymore meaning we are pretty much just sitting on money! By selling some of it not only do you get money to spend for Christmas, but you also declutter ready for the all of the festivities!

To sell clothes I would recommend using Poshmark (sign up with code THEDGES237 for £5 FREE) or Vinted and for anything else I prefer Ebay. If you have some much bigger items like gardening equipment or sofas, you may want to consider Gumtree.

Selling your stuff can be one of the quickest and easiest ways to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, so it is absolutely perfect if you have left your Christmas shopping until the last minute.

Once you have sold all of the stuff you want to sell, you could consider reselling.

Reselling is where you buy clothes online so that you can sell them on another platform. For example, you may find a bargain on Vinted and then sell it on Ebay to make a profit.

Get a Seasonal Retail Job

Whilst I love finding new and interesting ways to make money from home, you could always consider the good old fashioned way and get a short-term job.

At this time of year, many retailers hire more staff to cover the chaos that is Christmas shopping. That means there is a good chance you could get hired at your favourite shop for a few months. Personally, I think I would go for a book shop!

This is a great way of bringing in a good bit of money to supplement your regular earnings and help you pay for all the expenses of Christmas.

Pet Sitting or Dog Walking

I particularly love this way of making extra money for Christmas because it means I can spend more time with Dogs!

If you love a good walk on your weekends, why not offer your services as a dog walker to make some cash and some new furry friends!

Life is so busy that many people can’t find the time to walk their dogs for the length of walk they need. This means there is a growing demand for dog walkers! People also do not want to brave the winter weather, so you should get a lot of business in the lead up to Christmas.

I would only recommend this to people who have or have had dogs of their own, as this will help you know how to care for the dogs properly. Your clients will also trust you more if you have had previous experience.

You could also provide a pet sitting service where you stay at your client’s house to look after their pets whilst they are away.

You would be surprised how much people will pay to look after their pets!

Sell Homemade Christmas Cookies

make extra money for christmas by selling baked goods

Baking Christmas Cookies is a staple activity to get you in the festive spirit. But have you ever thought of turning your baking into your own little seasonal business?

Get creative and unleash your festive spirit!

You can easily start selling to friends and family and then start marketing your products on social media. Personally, I would recommend using Instagram as you can show off your beautiful cookies and even show off the baking process and behind the scenes on Instagram Reels.

Christmas cookies are a wonderful treat for everyone and make especially good presents, so make sure to take some time thinking about some aesthetically pleasing, festive packaging.

Get Ready for Next Year- Start a Blog!

Don’t get me wrong, starting a blog is not a quick way to make money for Christmas. But I have included it in this list as I think it is the BEST way to make a side income ready for next Christmas!

This is also probably the best way to make a full time income from home. From experience I can tell you it does takes A LOT of work, especially at the beginning, but at least you can work on it whenever and wherever you want. Even if that is at 1am in your pyjamas whilst sat up in bed!

It is a great source of passive income as once you’re established with some high quality posts, you can continue to earn money from those posts for years to come and maintain your blog with just a few hours of work per week. You may not pay for this Christmas but you could easily pay for every Christmas after that!

If you want to start your own blog but don’t know where to start I would highly recommend The Treasure Map to Blogging Success in 30 Days. This is the e-book I bought before launching my blog and I don’t think I could have launched without it!
